People worked hard for those hundreds of ecto needed to buy one and they (ed-Anet) knew they will fall drastically in price due to making them droppable.

In an earlier post you mentioned taking up options trading. Don't do it!

As a former commodities trader, I can tell you that present value has nothing to do with future value. So anyone who complains that they paid X for something and it's now Y should bury their money in the back yard and avoid the markets all together.

When I buy a GW item I do it with the knowledge that it could go up or down in value. In fact, I'm reasonably certain that few things actually increase in value in GW. The only things that do are commonly farmed items that eventually become less commonly farmed (Rajazan's ferver for example) as players move on to other areas.

I have absolutely no sympathy for people who expect Anet to keep items and skins exclusive. Having Sephis Axes drop more frequently in the Northern Shiverpeaks makes sense to me, even if it means that mine will be worth less in the future. And having Runic weapons drop more frequently (gee, Norns are kinda similar to Norsemen) also makes sense.

Will players really get significant enjoyment out of Runic Blades when they are super-common? I doubt it.

Why make every sought-after skin in the game super-common, then?

The only answer that I can come up with is that ANet is attempting to market to a young audience that has never had to work in order to earn anything.

That's a rather ignorant thing to say.

ANet could be trying to advance the community in a way that involves renewal. The impression I'm getting is that Runic Blades have long been a desirable item. Maybe ANet is trying to get people to look at other items... possibly newer ones that we haven't yet seen.

Yeah, it sucks for people who've invested time and money into getting one... but you can't expect things to always go your way.

Well... I mean, I get a lot of enjoyment out of my r13 inscribable Sephis Axe I payed a whole 3k for. Oh yeah, and that collector's Lion Shield - love it. Wouldn't give it up for anything.

I couldn't care less about how common or rare something is, except that it is an obstacle of payment between me and the skin I want.

Honestly, it becomes much easier to accept that way of thinking when you stop caring what everyone else thinks of you and your virtual gear.

Firstly,if it was true, the screenshot wouldn't show "xxx PICKED UP the runic blade" but "monster DROPPED the runic blade".

-> No one had prove it since the rumor's birth.

Secondly, people who are saying that they dropped one are poor people who want to buy one.

And finally, if we can see always someone selling it at ascalon inter 1, it's because all rich people which had the runic blade have been frightened to lost their because of the rumor ectos and so they wantto sell their blades fast.

So gg at men who have succeed in making this fake "true".

Collecting "rare" items is playing a minigame inside the GW game.

I think that this minigame has been created by the collectors, who decided that some items were more desirable than others and consequently more valuable.
A.net played some role in this, giving them the idea that this was true, now they feel betrayed.

Personally, I find the whole concept of "unique" items quite disturbing.

The collector is just slightly interested in the skin of what he's collecting and how it looks when equipped (a crystalline is a piece of broken glass with a wooden handle, with a very poor poligonal model).

The only important thing is that only the collector owns the item, when other players have it too, the item becomes junk.

The collector is not interested in having the item, his main concern is that other players don't have it.

The value of his item is given by the unaccessibility of it to other players. Once this unaccessibility ends, the item is totally devalued.

The other disturbing thing is that those items are rarely directly obtained by the collector by normal drop or HoH drop. In most cases, they are bought for hundreds or thousands of ectos, which are obtained farming or trading.

I can't see any special achievement in this, it's just a show of the ability to hoard gold in whatever way.

I also collect some r8 and r9 perfect inscribable and not skins, I was able to buy sephis axe, stormbow, zodiac bow and sword, and I've never paid more than 100-150k for each and that's why I bought.

Nevertheless, no item gives me a greater feeling than my old Victo's shield, which is now laughable, but I actually got it on my own, after several runs in ToPK. It's my Victo shield, I don't care if everyone has, that one was my personal drop.

Maybe A.net should put in game more items like that, maybe accessible only when you get some max titles like guardian or vanquisher, in my opinion they would really give a greater sense of accomplishment because you actually struggled to get them.

First you're an idiot, there are loads of screenshots about and they are dropping from dungeon chests, I have seen two of them drop. Also just look at High end last night there was 9 Runic Blades for sale on the first two pages .

ok frist thing frist the dungen chest's are like the hoh chest in almost everyway!!!! i woul dnot be surpised if they added a new mini to drop from the chest or the ghostly hero. becuz so far the chest both chest are the same ecept for the whole mini and sigil and flames thing which is pvp only thing anyways that pve players would not want.

things i can clerify that i have seen i did dungen runs all weekend played about 18 hours stright for the frist couple of hours!!! then took a 5 hour nap and played to weekend ended> just to get the most out of the weekend and get the good stuff!! so i was playing and been like 10 dungen runs and what poped out of a dungen end chest a diamond and a sephis swords req 13 !! and i was lik @###**@!! lol sorry !

so yes i know that does drop

ohh and infuse god get a grib either a your the poor person that plays about 3 hours a week or b the poor person that sits in goa stillll shouting looking for group for mallyx the unyeilding!!!!!!! lol like all the poor noobs try ing to make 100k like it alot of money i spent over 800 ecto this weekedn on lock picks and what every else i could buy. ohh giving away like 100ecto in picks to friends of mine close 8 friends in my guild!

so runic blades and crys and sephis do drop are dropping(til about 4 hours ago when they kicked us out) and will drop again but the prices wont go down to much so guess what you still cant afford one
next me and friends 8 of us go in again for more runs when i wake up was doing a run in 35 min about and my friend geta req 10 runic blade!! so he was excited to all!!!

and from what i can tell plat staffs are common or more common i got about 18 of them about 3 req 9 and a req 8 the whole weekend along with 2 wand and 1 sword

now as for the crstalylines >>>>>><<<<<<<<<<<........ just say like i did before the hoh chest and dungen chest all can drop the same golds non max chest like hoh too might i add and no i did not get one and no its not a rumor i had a party member get it trying to get him to take a screeny but he sold it fast he is worried that prices for everything is going to bomb so much lie every one is is thinking!!! ok anyways that will clear thing up you can call it what you want but one thing is for sure i opned that chest at least 35 times with mostly 8 same pople at fdifferent times some all the same time so figure 280 chest opens and only saw 3 rar skins. so prices on them going down>... yeah how much not by alot becuz out of the 3 rares i saw non where req 9

all my plate weapons where form locked chest and may i add i opened a good 500 of those and only got about 20 good skins and only one really good one

i know its long and spellign sucks but i dont care try to read it all hahahahahahahahahaha

I had a Gold R9 Fellblade and a Collosal Scimitar drop for me from end of dungeon chests yesterday, both gold, both inscribable.

I've sold the Fellblade because I think its ugly as sin but I'm hanging on to the Collossal because I like it, the fact that someone wants to pay me a tidy sum for the fellblade just makes it sweeter for me.

I could probably sell the Collossal for a decent amount too but I happen to like it, anyone who wants to be a ponce and show off their uber l33t rare weapon to his other equally penile challenged friends is fine with me, I'll gladly sell them my finds

It's not because people say "I see that" that it's real. I believe what I see. And as i said, no one prove it since the beginning of the rumor.
